A snowball’s throw further up the road, just beyond the Lake Resia border, the South Tyrolean ski resorts of Schöneben (1,300 to 2,500 m) and Haider Alm (1,500 to 2,700 m) boast a variety of well-groomed and demanding slopes. Tip: Both ski resorts are easily accessible by ski bus!

 Across the 18 wide, sun-drenched kilometres of downhill slopes in Watles, leisure-minded carving fans dig deep grooves, while Trafoi features all the advantages of a small family ski resort. Alternatively, guests can reach higher altitudes in the snow-secure glacier ski resort of Sulden am Ortler, where the winter season lasts from October to the end of April thanks to its altitude at up to 3,250 m.

SKI SCHOOLS IN NAUDERS - LEARNING IS FUN!

At the professional and passionately operated ski schools in the Nauders ski resort, staff will do everything to ensure that holiday guests on skis and snowboards truly feel "at home" in no time at all. Absolute beginners from age 3 are in the best of hands. So too are the more advanced looking for the finishing touches. For modern group and private lessons, the ski schools have suitable rental equipment available.

Under the guidance of experienced children's ski instructors, parents can rest easy knowing that their "Bambinis" are in the best of hands. The considerable infrastructure is also impressive: from the guest kindergarten (from age 2) to the 6,500 m2, fun-filled Nauderix Kinderland at the Bergkastel mountain station and the supervised lunch break in our own children's restaurant, staff go above and beyond in meeting the needs of little guests.

ALTERNATIVES TO SKIING: TRY TAKING IT EASY INSTEAD

Even members of the "skiing, nothing else” crowd will be seduced by the variety of ‘off-piste’ attractions in Nauders' winter wonderland. Especially tempting: the magnificent natural sledging runs for that rush of speed on two runners! With 8 km of track, the Bergkastel sledging run is considered Tyrol’s longest. The fun starts at the 2,200 m high station of the Bergkastelbahn. A highlight for the whole family is the 4.5-km sledging run from the Lärchenalm mountain hut, where a hut evening followed by night sledging takes place twice a week. The 3-km Novelles sledging run and the 2.5-km Parditsch sledging run promise even more sledging fun.

With each and every step you take on the 110 km of groomed winter hiking trails, new and ever more breathtaking views of this snow-covered holiday village will reveal themselves. Every Wednesday evening, guests can ascend with the Mutzkopf cable car to enjoy illuminated, groomed paths for romantic walks under the starry sky.

Cross-country skiers also enjoy coming to the three-countries region to glide across the over 90 km of snow-secure, well-manicured cross-country trails for both skating and classic styles. In particular, the 14.5-km elevated trail in Langtaufers, which is less than 15 minutes by car from Arabella, guarantees the best conditions. After all, the picturesque circuit climbs up to 1,960 metres - ideal for efficient endurance training.
