Ski instructor Günter shares his story.

The Nauders Ski Resort Through the Eyes of an Insider: A Conversation with Ski Instructor Günter:

When Günter talks about the Nauders ski resort, his eyes light up. He knows every slope, every turn, and every hidden gem this special place has to offer. His journey began over 30 years ago in 1993, as a newly trained ski instructor at the Bergkastel ski school. But Günter wanted more: a few years later, he joined the Nauders ski school, and 25 years ago, he and nine passionate colleagues founded the Nauders Interski Ski School. What started with a team of just 30 instructors has grown into one of the largest ski schools in the region, with up to 100 instructors working during the high season. “It was an exciting time,” Günter recalls, “full of challenges but also full of achievements.”

Over the years, the ski school has transformed and expanded, introducing new course offerings, building a dedicated children’s area, and hosting highlights like the weekly "Show in Snow" to give guests an unforgettable experience. Günter’s pride in what they’ve built is evident in every word he speaks.

What Makes Nauders So Special?

“Nauders is truly a gem,” Günter enthuses. “With an altitude of up to 2,850 meters, we’re incredibly snow-reliable, which is becoming more and more important.” He is particularly impressed by the variety of slopes, offering something for every skill level – from gentle beginner runs to challenging, steep descents. As a family man, he’s especially proud of how family-friendly the resort is: “Our children’s area, ski kindergarten, and special Bambini courses are great ways to introduce the youngest skiers to the sport. And while the kids enjoy their group lessons, many parents take the opportunity for private sessions – it’s a win-win.”

How the Life of a Ski Instructor Has Changed:

Günter fondly remembers the early days: “Back then, we spent more time enjoying leisurely breaks at the mountain huts,” he says with a wink. These days, things are more focused on the slopes. “Guests want to make the most of their time, and we’re here to help them do just that.” Despite the changes, one thing hasn’t wavered for Günter: “There are few jobs in the world that bring as much joy. Seeing our guests progress and share in their excitement – it’s priceless.”

Günter’s Insider Tips:

Ask Günter about his favorite runs, and he doesn’t hesitate: “The steep slope at Tscheyeck is a dream for advanced skiers. For beginners and those who prefer a more relaxed pace, I love the sunny, wide slope along the new Goldseebahn.” His advice? Hit the slopes early in the morning, when the snow is still fresh and the sun is just peeking over the peaks.

For Günter, Nauders is more than just a workplace – it’s home. And after hearing him speak, it’s hard not to want to strap on your skis and experience this remarkable ski resort for yourself.
