Christmas & New Year's Eve in Nauders: A Winter Holiday in Tyrol

Christmas magic in the mountains. Cherishing moments together. Simply free to be.
Christmas and New Year's Eve in Nauders are something truly special. Snow-covered peaks, the magic of Christmas in the air, authentic Tyrolean traditions, and plenty of time for the people who matter most. Whether you're skiing over Christmas, visiting the Nauders Christmas market, or welcoming the New Year in the cosy comfort of your own apartment, here at the Reschen Pass you can celebrate the festive season exactly the way you like.
We, the Moritz family, would love to share what makes Christmas in Nauders so special – and how you can enjoy the most wonderful time of the year at your own pace here at Arabella Retreat & Spa.
1. Christmas in Nauders: Festive Markets, Tyrolean Traditions & a Little Christmas Magic
When the village lights begin to twinkle, the mountains are wrapped in a blanket of snow, and the excitement of Christmas slowly fills the air, you know that special Advent feeling has arrived.
Nauders is wonderfully cosy at this time of year. No big-city hustle and bustle, no rushing around, no pressure to do anything at all. Just wander through the village streets, breathe in the crisp mountain air, and enjoy life's little pleasures.
Our Christmas Tip: The Nauders Christmas Market
One date you'll definitely want to put in your diary is 21 December 2026. From 3 pm to 9 pm, the Nauders Christmas market invites you to come together and soak up the festive atmosphere.
Browse the market stalls for lovely little treasures and thoughtful Christmas gifts. You might even discover a special surprise for someone you love.
We're especially looking forward to a performance by the Tonart choir, whose beautiful singing will add an extra touch of Christmas magic.
A little tip from the Moritz family: Take your time at the Christmas market. Wander from stall to stall, listen to the music, and simply soak up the festive atmosphere. It's these little moments spent together that make Advent so special.
And afterwards? Head back to your warm, cosy apartment, put your feet up, and enjoy the rest of the evening exactly as you please.
2. Skiing in Nauders at Christmas: Fresh Mountain Air Instead of Festive Stress
For many of us, Christmas in the mountains means one thing: finally getting back on our skis!
The Nauders am Reschenpass ski resort is scheduled to open for the 2026/27 winter season on 11 December 2026, with the season expected to run until 4 April 2027. https://www.hotel-arabella.com/en/nauders/
So, provided the snow and weather conditions play along, there's nothing stopping you from enjoying a wonderful skiing holiday over Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Up on Bergkastel, you'll find a lovely variety of slopes, breathtaking mountain views, and welcoming mountain huts for a well-deserved break. Whether you're watching your little ones make their first turns or enjoying a more adventurous day on the slopes together, everyone can find their own pace.
The Bergkastel cable car normally operates from 8.30 am to 4 pm, with the other lifts usually opening from 9 am.
And the best part for our Arabella guests? The ski bus stop is just 30 metres from our doorstep.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast, grab your ski gear, and off you go. It really couldn't be easier.
Our tip: Booking your ski passes online well in advance can save you money, depending on the ticket and available early-booking rates. Which means you might have a little more of your holiday budget left for those extra-special treats.
