Insights into Village Life

Story: Insights into Village Life

Growing up and experiencing nature like in Nauders!

Nauders – a small village high up on the Reschen Pass. A place where the mountains feel close enough to touch, where the sky seems wider than anywhere else – and where childhood still smells like true freedom. Growing up here means growing up grounded, close to nature, and surrounded by a strong sense of community.

In Nauders, everyone knows everyone – literally. School classes are small, often with only 8 to 15 children. This creates bonds that last a lifetime. From kindergarten – located right in the village – the children grow up together. They continue on to the local primary school, and when the time comes for secondary school, they head down the valley to Pfunds.

What makes life here so special? Nature plays the lead role. Between meadows, mountains, and forests, the real adventures await. Instead of tablets and shopping malls, there are sledding tracks, hiking trails, and woodland hideouts. Most children are already skiing by the age of three, learning to glide on snow before they can even read. Winter is their playground – and summer is just as magical. Without a public pool in the village, locals head to the Grüner See or one of the nearby streams to swim and cool off. A jump into the cold water, a picnic by the shore, a sunburn included – that’s summer in Nauders.

Hiking isn’t a chore, it’s a way of life. With mountains right outside their doorstep, many families spend their weekends in the great outdoors. It’s a life that slows you down – in the best possible way. A life full of real connections, fresh mountain air, and a sense of belonging.

Growing up in Nauders means growing up in a small world full of greatness. It’s a place that still gives children what’s missing in many places today: freedom, security, and a true feeling of home.
